Reach the Bus Stop is a Unity game I made for a class at Full Sail University.

The Right Track (for Scraps)

A level design for the Full Sail University game SCRAPS. I designed the level map, did the level design document and developed this level in Unity with C# scripting.

Lights Out (variant)

A personal version of a 2D game I developed for a Full Sail University class that is based on the game, Lights Out.

Olive Baboon (for a zoo game)

Research and development of an animal for a zoo game at Full Sail University.

Conflagration Farm (a pitch)

A pitch for a game concept I did for a Full Sail class.

Pursuing the Void (Trailer)

At Full Sail University, I was part of a seven-person team of students. We called ourselves Team Flying Mongoose. This is a trailer of our final game project, Pursuing the Void, in which I participated.

Pursuing the Void (Post Mortem)

Video by team member, Candace Morin

An overview of Team Flying Mongoose’s final project during the spring of 2020, Pursing the Void. I was part of this team. While I tested and helping develop all aspects of the game, I focused on game objects in which the player interacted, like the push-pull items and the collectibles/inventory system.

About Me

Benjamin Miller has played many board, card and dice games while growing up. During the 1970’s, he was introduced to chess and Dungeons & Dragons (basic 1st Edition).  He has participated in many role playing groups as a player or game master since then. While studying and working for both information and food service industries, he began playing video games.

Recently, he has been an online student at Full Sail University, from where he has graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Game Design. Full Sail University classes brought meaning to his interest in having fun. They have taught him to design games with meaningful decisions for players, balanced feedback loops and other concepts of game theory. He also learned to develop game engines using Unity 3D and Unreal, and to script with such languages as C#.

Benjamin creates games – analog and digital – to entertain, distract or educate us while our world faces challenges of its own. The industry is about games, but he also feels it is all about the people who make the games and those who play them. With experiences in music, graphics, writing and programming, while he can do games projects alone, as he is a people person, Benjamin enjoys interacting with others on a team, both following and managing.

Other than games, Benjamin enjoys listening to music, performing piano and other keyboard instruments.  Currently, he is experimenting with MIDI compositions. He likes to read speculative pieces, particularly science fiction and fantasy adventures.  When not riding a bicycle, he often hikes.
